Crete struck by 5.8-magnitude earthquake (Video)
One person died and at least 20 injured after a strong earthquake hit the Greek island of Crete on Monday morning.
Schools evacuated and people were sent fleeing into the streets while several aftershocks struck the holiday hotspot.
The following video, from a CCTV camera, captures the moment the 5.8 - magnitude earthquake hit Crete:
Efthimios Lekkas, from Greece's Earthquake Planning and Protection Organisation, said:
"We are urging people who live in damaged older buildings to remain outdoors. One aftershock can cause a collapse.
"We are talking about structures built before 1970. Structures built after 1985 are built to a higher standard that can withstand the effect of an earthquake."
